Liquidity – is the second Double Solo Exhibition of an exchange project  between two young artists from Taiwan and Germany in 2024. The project focuses on the field characteristics of „waterways“, taking the Tamsui River in Taipei City and the Elbe River in Hamburg as their field of research.

Harbors, as the specific side of trade, are social and material places of liquidity. The exhibition delves into this process of material transformation in relation to market dynamics. The displayed works move between biological research, institutional critique and socio-political mapping. The focussing lies on the deepening and re-siltation of the Elbe river and its effect on local city development and global trade.

HSU Yi-Ting continued her 2022 site-specific project „Mud Metamorphoses I“ in Hamburg with the residency in Westwerk, focused on Elbe siltation and China-Germany trade. She now expanded her research to the security of resources in the semiconductor industry, exploring the intersection of environmental and geopolitical issues. Her works reveal the inevitable conflict and vulnerability these transitional dynamics, and present through mud scuptures, poetic video, drawing documents.

Key words:

  • Elbe River Deepening, Semiconductor Indurstry, Global trade, Geopolitics.

About HSU Yi-Ting

HSU Yi-Ting(b.1992, Taiwan) is now having resiedency in Achterhaus until end of Sepetember. HSU focuses on the vulnerability of safety and explores the multi-dimensional relationship between space and the body through an eco-feminist geography lens. She views space as a metaphor, aiming to reveal the interactions between the center and the periphery and the formation of power boundaries through interdisciplinary site-specific performance and painting. She regards her artistic practice as a process of reconstruction, combining field reflections, political situations, everyday minutiae, remnants, and shan shui construction. During the process of bodily presence, she repeatedly tests the variability of subjectivity, the structure of relationships, the destructible resilience,  humor of the defamiliarization, and alienated care.
